The body of our stair treads is ¾” thick and by adding the ¾” square nose, the overall look gives your staircase the appearance of having 1 ½ ″ thick oversized stair treads installed. Our treads are made in Canada out of staves from high-quality kiln-dried lumber, glued, then planed and sanded many times before actually becoming a tread; there is no space or bevel between staves. Single piece tread, would be virtually guaranteed to warp, crack, and cup in a very short time. You will probably see the unpleasant changes (with the first or second change in seasons or as soon as you turn your AC on. Unfinished Red Oak stair treads are made for interior use. They are sold unfinished, allowing you to finish it to match other stair parts or decor. Applying an ample amount of construction adhesive on the stringer before nailing in place ensures a solid installation. Our treads with a ¼” round over square nose profile are revolutionary stair remodelling products that cover your old carpet stairs, damaged or unfinished existing stairs.
